Praying the Names of God
Caregiver, here is the first in a series of prayers we will compile on this blog. May you be blessed as you pray these prayers over yourself and may you also consider praying for the other caregivers in this community.
A prayer you can pray over yourself:
Dear Lord, Thank You that You are El Shaddai (my Supplier). You have supplied peace and happiness in the past. We know You are a God who does not change. This means that You are powerful enough to supply peace and happiness in the future. You are also the supplier of contentment and well-being, even in the middle of the storm.
Praise You, LORD, that You are Elohim (my Creator). You created me. You know what is best for me because You know me better than I know myself. Thank You, Father, that it will not diminish Your unending supply one iota when You create perfect peace and contentment for me during this trying time.
God, You are Jehovah Jireh (my Provider). Nehemiah 9:20 tells me that “The God of Heaven Himself will prosper us.” Lord, I know that it is You, not me, who will bring the peace and hope that prospers. If I seek peace on my own, it will fail, but You do not fail.
Father, I know that You are Jehovah Mikkadesh (my Sanctifier) and You will sanctify me. You are preparing me now for future joy, happiness, and peace so when these emotions come I will give praise to You instead of glorifying man.
Praise You, Lord, that Your Word tells me You are with me (Hebrews 13:5). Even when I feel overwhelmed, overworked and all alone, I am never alone, because You are always by my side. Other people may forsake me, but You will never turn Your back on me.
Jehovah Rapha (my Healer), please continue to heal me from the hurts that have occurred during my caregiving experience. Heal my mind, soul, and heart from any trauma that has come as a result of caring for self and others.
Thank You, Father, that even now You are guiding me and You will guide me continually because You always have been and always will be Jehovah Rohi (my Shepherd). To You alone be all praise, honor, and glory. Amen
